WeGet Music is a new music discovery platform that allows independent artists to connect with fans — and get paid. Even the fans. When music lovers create playlists that get, well a lot of plays, they get paid too.

Even though it’s still in Beta, it already features more than 16,000 artists. They’re unique search engine will allow you to find music by instrument, mood, and more, making it easier to collect, then share your new favorites.

Categories include “Music for Movies” and “Most Licensed” seemingly promising a new way for aspiring filmmakers to find affordable scores and soundtracks. They sponsored the San Jacinto College 52-hour Film Festival in 2014, so they appear to have indie filmmakers in mind.

The platform is already used by pro film and television companies to license independent music.

WeGet Music teamed up with Medadyn, a cryptocurrency company that has designed a utility token especially for the entertainment industry. The idea: by using Medadyns, or MDA’s, you can support individual musicians, directors, producers, etc. by financing their projects. And should your choice become successful, you stand to profit from it too. They will be using the token with blockchain to help automate.

Medadyn recently partnered with BGC International Holdings, a global fund that backs cryptocurrencies with gold. A small comfort to those uncertain about investing in crypto.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
